Remembering Tiki: Our Sweet, Strong, and Loving Boy

Our hearts are broken. After 18 and a half years, we said goodbye to our sweet boy, Tiki. He was everything to us - our companion, our comfort, and our constant through so many seasons of life at the Old Bandy Home.

Tiki was never just a cat. He was family. He lived through every bit of dust, noise, and change that came with restoring our old home. Through all of it, he remained our steady, loving presence. At 18 years old, he surprised us all by becoming a champion mouser, proving that even in his later years, he still had a few surprises up his sleeve (or paw?). But more than anything, he was our cuddler, our little shadow, our piece of home no matter where we were.

So much so that on dozens of occasions each day, you could hear us say - “look out behind you!”

He got me through some of the hardest days and was there for the best ones, too. His quiet strength and unconditional love were an anchor in my life. Just last. year, we lost his littermate sister, and now, I imagine them together again - playing, snuggling, and keeping watch over us with our moms and my dad in heaven.

The house feels empty without him. I keep hoping it was all just a dream, that I’ll wake up to find him curled up in his favorite spot, purring softly like always.

Tiki, you were so loved and will be missed beyond words. Thank you for 18 and a half beautiful years. We’ll carry you in our hearts forever.

Until we meet again, our sweet, loving boy,

Your Cat Mom and Dad
